Collective Peace Corps Blog
« on: January 24, 2014, 09:09:51 PM »
So, I've been off and on with the travel blogging community writing for websites/blogs and such. I was thinking about making a Peace Corps website having blog posts/youtube videos from all different locations volunteers are located at. I can divide them by sector/country/region. Pretty much a collective website where Volunteers can share their experiences.

This is so others, PCV, PCV, FPCV or anyone else interested can see what the experience is like for volunteers all over the world and in different sectors. What do you guys think? Anyone interested in collaborating?

I think it is an awesome idea.

However, I think most people want their own blog in it's own separate piece of the internet; and wouldn't want to post it on another site.  I could be wrong.

If I am right, then at the very least you could create a place where the blog names, owners and urls are listed and linked to.  The could be listed by country -- like peacecorpsjournals used to be.  There is a need for it.

Keep us updated on your plans for this.

I think it is a great idea. When I was a PCV I was asked to make my blog private due to "controversial posts" (I am a fire spinner and I was talking about different types of fuel used for fire spinning in different countries, and how it was a difficult thing to figure out with the language barrier.) While it was fine for just my family and friends to have access to my blog there was the occasional entry that would have been great to share with the greater public, so I think that some people would definitely want to contribute occasionally to a wider platform.
