I can't at all remember how much mine was. But I know that I used it, along with the cost of my plane ticket back to the states, to pay for housing for a year of study in Istanbul the year after my service. Best choice ever, for me.

I think mine and my wife's was about $7,000 each (before taxes).  It went in the joint checking account and life went on.  I still use it to justify expensive toys:  "I think I'll buy that ______ (bike, quadcopter, tv, etc) I know it is expensive but I never used my readjustment allowance"
